Washington State University police are asking for felony charges to be brought against USC defensive lineman Liam Jimmons for an altercation after the Cougars' victory in September.

Jimmons knocked down a fan as students stormed the field after the game. KXLY reports the blow resulted in significant injury.

The WSU student that got hit has been to the hospital twice for a concussion suffered from the alleged assault. Because of the seriousness of the injury, WSU police want Jimmons to be charged with felony second degree assault. The case has been turned over to the Whitman County Prosecutor's Office for a charging decision. Jimmons has appeared in five games for USC this season.

Trojan coach Clay Helton said after the incident that internal discipline had been taken.

Dude was running to the locker room, and nothing more. Felony my ass. This country is so fucked up beyond repair.

The title made it sound like it was the fans fault. Then I watched the video and it seemed like maybe a cheap shot? couldn't tell, not enough evidence to overturn the no call.

Normally I agree.....but didn't this happen at the end of the game when they beat a highly ranked team? But, the the evidence as far as being intentional doesn't seem to fit. And if a player feels unsafe he can make the case for self defense. And I don't think they guy was injured, correct? Hard to make a felony case. It will either be dropped or pleaded down is my guess

You must be joking. A defensive lineman (6'4" 284) in full pads feels unsafe because a fan is running across the field?

Guess I'm in the minority, I think that was fucked up. He cleaned that guy's clock out of frustration. That is assault. Not sure about felony.

Dude, the fan ran in front of him and he leveled him. Total cheap shot.

He did nothing of the sort. He was running and a douche that shouldn't be on the field got in his way. Yeah, he put his hands up, but he didn't break stride and he didn't alter his path. Zero chance 12 jurors will call this assault, so they need to shut the fuck up about charging him with ANYTHING. Lesson learned.....enter the field at your own risk.

Zero chance this fan was injured, either.

Concussion needing 2 hospital visits. (as per yahoo sports) 2nd was probably the lawyers idea. Still the fans fault.

You guys are insane. Fan has just as much right to be on the field as a USC player, probably more so considering he is a WSU student and the game was OVER.

You can't just fucking assault someone because you are salty.

Doesn't matter that he "didn't break stride", guy came across his field of vision and he laid him out.
